What we treat — and what we don’t

What we treat

Minor injuries and urgent, non-life-threatening illnesses — cuts, minor burns, sprains, suspected simple fractures, infections, bites, minor head injuries, and selected acute symptoms.

What we don’t treat

Life-threatening emergencies, severe chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe shortness of breath, major trauma, heavy bleeding, or patients arriving by ambulance.

In a medical emergency — chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, heavy bleeding, or collapse — call 999or attend A&E.

Serving Elstree, Borehamwood, and surrounding Hertfordshire

We serve walk-in and same-day patients across Elstree, Borehamwood, Radlett, Bushey, Barnet, Mill Hill, Edgware, Stanmore, Watford, Shenley, and St Albans. The clinic is a short drive from the A1 and A41, with on-site parking at Centennial Park.

Most people come to us when they need same-day assessment for a minor injury or an urgent, non-life-threatening illness. We are a private urgent care service for conditions that need prompt attention — we are not an A&E department and we do not treat life-threatening emergencies. If you are unsure whether we are the right service for your symptoms, our team can explain what we do and do not treat.

Common questions

What's the difference between private urgent care and A&E?

A&E treats life-threatening emergencies — heart attacks, strokes, major trauma. Private urgent care is for conditions that need same-day attention but aren't life-threatening: infections, minor injuries, unexplained pain, worsening coughs, suspected fractures. If you're in doubt, call 999 or 111 first.

Do I need to register or refer myself?

No. Walk in, or book the same day online once we open. You don't need to be registered with a GP surgery.

Do you see children?

Yes — children aged 1 and above. We don't see infants under 12 months; for that, please contact your GP or 111.

Is my visit covered by private medical insurance?

Most private medical insurance policies don't cover urgent care visits directly — you should plan to pay at the time of your visit. You're welcome to check with your insurer before attending to see whether treatment can be authorised. If your condition requires referral to a specialist, your policy may provide cover from that stage onwards — we'll always let you know the cost of any further care before it happens.

How quickly will I be seen?

Most patients are seen within 15 minutes of walking in, though wait times vary with clinic volume. You can also pre-book a same-day slot online once we open.
