Frequently Asked Questions
Urgent Care FAQs — Elstree Private Clinic
Find answers to common questions about our services, pricing, and what to expect during your visit.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Our clinic operates as a walk-in — you can arrive during opening hours and be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. If you prefer a guaranteed same-day slot, you can book an urgent care appointment online or call us on 020 3327 7777.
What conditions do you treat?
Our experienced emergency medicine doctors treat minor injuries and urgent, non-life-threatening illnesses — including cuts and minor burns, sprains, suspected simple fractures, infections, bites, minor head injuries, and selected acute symptoms. For life-threatening emergencies, severe chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing difficulty, major trauma, or heavy bleeding, call 999 or attend A&E.
How much does a visit cost?
An urgent care consultation costs £110 for adults (16+) and £95 for children (ages 1–15). This covers your assessment by an experienced emergency medicine doctor. Additional diagnostics such as X-ray, blood tests, or ECG are charged separately — we always explain costs before proceeding.
Do you treat children?
Yes, we see children aged 1 and over. Our doctors are experienced in paediatric urgent care. We do not see children under 1 year old — for children under 1, contact your GP or NHS 111, and in an emergency call 999 or attend A&E.
Can I use my health insurance?
We provide detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurer before your visit to confirm coverage for private urgent care consultations.
What diagnostics are available on-site?
We offer X-ray, blood tests, ECG, and imaging facilities on-site — used where clinically indicated during your visit. Most results are available within the hour, so you can be assessed and treated in a single visit rather than waiting days or weeks.
When are you open?
We are open 7 days a week, including bank holidays. Monday to Friday: 8am–8pm. Saturday and Sunday: 9am–6pm. Same-day urgent care appointments are available throughout opening hours.
